Poem #20-2010

White Isn't Always Good

Dark soldier
suffering silently
who knows no promise
I would hear your oath,
hold it safe until your
return

It’s all nonsense
The seabreeze channel
is locked and blocked
There’s a bomb in the
flower girl’s bouquet
and in the House
we speak of peace

  1. this makes a wicked turn between the two stanzas...the second is way intense and really like it...love the contradiction...intriguing verse tonight...

  6. Hi Rick... my mind just traveled a thousand different places in an instant. Dark soldier, holds no promise, hold his oath til he returns. Military oath to country? He's going off to war? But no, flower-girl, oath of love, oath of marriage. Bomb in flower-girl's bouquet? White in the title, dark soldier vs. white soldier, White Spy vs. Black Spy in Mad Magazines of the 1960's? My mind just overloaded... very provocative, proactive piece... kept me quite busy. Thanks for sharing....
